Queensland Film Industry going Strong

film_reel.jpgThe big Hollywood productions may have pulled back from filming in Queensland but those working in the local documentary, advertising, television and feature film industry say their productions are doing OK.

…The documentary industry in particular says it is benefiting from the years of networking with overseas broadcasters and filmmakers with a number of co-productions in progress.

…Co-production with overseas companies is also helping the local television and feature film industry.

…Filmmakers can now get a rebate of up to 40 per cent on any Australian spending which includes crew, equipment and any post-production costs paid here – even if the project’s subject is overseas.

…The PFTC‘s Head of Production Henry Tefay is delighted by the success in the local production industry.

“The domestic industry has never been better, it’s very heartening,” he says.

…About $60-million of production work is happening this year employing a couple of thousand people, and he says that interest is being maintained with new productions coming on line soon.
