It has been reported that…The chief executive of the company that makes Outrageous Fortune threatened to cancel the hit show with the loss of more than 100 jobs, blaming union demands.
…The show is one of New Zealand’s most popular local dramas, and stars Robyn Malcolm, Antony Starr and Antonia Prebble.
…The dispute was sparked by a resolution passed at a union meeting by the cast on February 10, calling for the negotiation of an industry-wide agreement covering all performers working in New Zealand television and film productions, containing “conditions of employment no less favourable to performers that those enjoyed in Australia”.
…In a letter to agents, it appeared to threaten re-casting of the shows if individual actors did not commit to negotiations through their agents, not the union…Sunday Star-Times reports.
