The next Doctor Who could be played by a 41-year-old Brisbane actor, David Knijnenburg, a veteran of the Australian stage.
He recently left for the UK “for an audition” as information emerged that the current Doctor, David Tennant, was quitting the BBC series.
When asked by Confidential if he had volunteered to pilot the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space) he said, “If that were true then I probably wouldn’t be in a position to be supposed to be talking about it”.
Knijnenburg was reportedly spotted several times in the Old Dart with members of the Doctor Who production team including at well-known entertainment industry lair The Ivy, where deals apparently get inked…The Courier Mail reports.
You can see Knijnenburg in the soon to be released vampire thriller ‘Daybreakers’, starring Willem Dafoe, Ethan Hawk and a host of Australian actors including, Sam Neil, Claudia Karvan,Vince Colosomo and Isabel Lucas.
